Project Description

Date: Feb 05-17, 21-24, 2019

單身.友.情人

Stephen Sondheim’s “Company” is the first-ever concept musical to redefine Broadway.

It humorously explores various aspects of modern marriage. Bob, a staunch advocate of the single life, is surrounded by five couples who are his close friends. He prides himself on understanding modern marriage and urban relationships inside out. The play consists of multiple non-linear stories, placing Bob in a series of seemingly unrelated scenes, allowing for a candid exploration of other people’s emotional situations.

As a commitment-phobic bachelor who struggles to maintain long-term relationships, Bob cannot fathom the responsibilities of marriage. He observes the ups and downs of his five married friends’ lives and concludes that marriage is unhappy. Meanwhile, he finds himself entangled with three female companions, unable to make sense of his own situation.

Today is Bob’s 35th birthday, and his five married friends gather at his apartment to throw him a surprise party.

He makes a wish for emptiness.
He never considered marriage.
His crazy married friends have shown him the unhappiness of marriage.
He believes that all he needs is friends!

COMPANY is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
