Project Description

Date: Dec 20-23, 20018

主席萬歲萬萬歲

Actor Chan Sai-mau and Bai Jun-qi grew up in the film industry, witnessing the rise and fall of Hong Kong cinema. In a co-production film starring Chinese actress Bingbing, Bai brought Chan to the mainland for a cameo. Unexpectedly, the actor playing Chairman Mao suddenly passed away. The director, in a bind, discovered that Chan, after makeup, bore a striking resemblance to Mao and decided to have him replace the original actor to complete the film.

Chan’s uncanny likeness led to fervent admiration from villagers and even affection from Bingbing, turning their obscure village into an overnight sensation. As the lines between film and reality blur, Chan and Bai navigate a world of contradictions between “truth” and “falsehood.”

“Long Live the Chairman” premiered to a sold-out audience, featuring a surprising cast and a storyline that pays tribute to Hong Kong cinema while paving the way for dreams!
