Fireflies

That summer when the B29 bombers were circling in the skies over Japan, 14-year-old Seita and his 4-year-old sister Setsuko had to flee their home due to the war turmoil. After great hardship, the two found temporary shelter in an air-raid shelter. But their fortunes did not improve – Setsuko grew weaker from hunger, and Seita, disregarding everything else, tried to protect his sister until the very end…

The theatrical production has officially been licensed by Shinchosha in Japan. Jointly created by Stoa Lau, Cheung Fei Fan and Yu Chun Kau Jacobhermit , the Cantonese musical adaptation of Nosaka Akiyuki’s renowned semi-autobiographical novel “Grave of the Fireflies” debuted in 2022 to wide acclaim.

In 2024, the Mandarin version of “Grave of the Fireflies” returns, re-enacting the poignant classic through the power of music.
