UA CineHub and Theater Space have joined forces to create the “Film, Novel, and Script Crossover Space”
UA CineHub and Theater Space have joined forces to create the “Film, Novel, and Script Crossover Space,” a groundbreaking collaboration between a cinema line and a theater group. This crossover production combines live script readings and performances in a screening room theater format. The program is divided into three units, featuring a total of 11 shows, including the translation of Neil Simon’s famous Hollywood play “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” and adaptations of short stories from local crime novelist Chan Ho-kei’s “The Diogenes Variations.” The stories are transformed from novels into script texts and performed by actors, bringing a new and immersive viewing experience to the screening room of K11 Art House. The series runs from May 26th to June 26th, and tickets are now available for purchase at UA ticketing.

^ This program is a live script reading, with actors reading the script on stage.
Chan Ho-kei is a highly popular Hong Kong writer known for his detective and science fiction novels. He has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Japan’s Shōsetsu Hōdō Prize for Mystery. His award-winning work “The Borrowed” set an unprecedented record for Chinese-language detective novels in the Japanese publishing industry, and the film rights have been acquired by director Wong Kar-wai for adaptation.
This play reading event is part of the Theater Space’s “Agatha Christie Mystery Space” series. It selects exciting stories from Chan Ho-kei’s short story collection “The Diogenes Variations” and adapts them into stage scripts. The actors will be on stage, holding the scripts and bringing the dialogues to life.
